The Route des Crêtes runs along the Vosges heights from Cernay to Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, through breathtaking panoramas. Here you can admire stubble fields, glacial lakes and the Schlucht and Bonhomme passes. The Grand Ballon, the highest point in the Vosges at 1,424 metres, offers spectacular views over the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and sometimes the Alps. In summer, the road, dotted with typical farm inns, welcomes hikers and cyclists.
